HRRARC participating in INTERNATIONAL MARCONI DAY
International Marconi Day (IMD) is a 24-hour amateur radio event held annually to celebrate the birth of Guglielmo Marconi on the 25th April 1874. The IMD event is not a contest: it is an opportunity for amateurs around the world to make point-to-point contact with historic Marconi sites using HF communications techniques similar to those used by Marconi, and to gain an attractive Award for achieving the requisite number of Marconi stations worked.
The club will be participating in the day’s events by aiming to make radio contact with the official IMD Award Stations in order to claim an IMD 2009 Award Certificate. See list of official IMD stations here
Period of operation and details click here
Start times on the day are still be finalised but from mid Saturday morning onwards I would say (9am). The official start time of the event is 0000 UTC (1am BST) 25th April, however Dave Wilde G1YAI will be there from approximately 9am. If anyone (club members) wishes to be there earlier then you may do so.
Regards to all
