Moorgreen Country Show a success!
The Moorgreen Country Show which was held on 30th/31st August 2009 was hailed a great success by Hucknall Rolls-Royce ARC, with a huge amount of interest shown in both the club and the hobby.
The club put on a Special Event Station ‘GB5MCS’ in order to commemorate what was, the show’s 160th year. A number of contacts were made by the station during its two days of operation by using various modes: HF, VHF, and Data (PSK31). Special commemorative QSL cards will be sent out shortly to all stations that made contact.
The event helped to promote the RR club, its activities, and the hobby. The RSGB were also in attendance and helped specifically with promoting the hobby. Thank you to Jim Stevenson G0EJQ our Regional Manager for arranging this.
The infamous show which was in its 160th year, is mainly agricultural based, but hosts an excellent showcase of the area's rich and rural heritage. The event attracts over 15,000 visitors during its two day’s duration. The showground is situated at Watnall near Hucknall, Nottinghamshire in a 40 x 40acre showground.
The club would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to its member’s who helped to run the special event station and who were also involved with setting-up equipment etc. This was a huge team effort by all those involved and is therefore much appreciated.
Some pictures of the Moorgreen Country Show have since been placed in the Gallery of the site – see here
